How much does excavation cost on the Central Coast?
No government or professional body publishes an excavation price for the Central Coast, and this site doesn't set one; your provider quotes after seeing the site. Council's tipping and road reserve fees are public, and the costs page lists them. The costs page's Excavation costs and rules check shows which NSW licence, contract, deposit, cover and cooling-off rules apply at your job's value.
Why does soil cost money to get rid of?
Because Council's tips charge for it by the tonne, $244.07 in 2026-27 for clean soil, and accept it only with a waste classification certificate. Where the acid sulfate soils risk maps show a probability of acid sulfate soil, the NSW EPA says excavated soil can't be classed as virgin natural material unless it has been chemically tested.

Process
Where does my enquiry go?
To one independent provider covering the Central Coast, who gets in touch to see the site and quote. We are paid for passing it on. If nobody can take the job, we tell you that.
How do I check a contractor's licence?
Use NSW's online home building licence check, and make sure the name on the contract matches the licence holder's name as shown on the licence. For a job over $20,000, check the home building compensation certificate with the insurer named on it or through HBC Check.
Timing
How quickly can someone get to me?
We don't promise a time. It depends on the provider's bookings and on approvals: a complying development certificate must be decided within 10 days, Council usually processes a straightforward driveway crossing application in 14 to 21 days, and a development application can take months.
Do the neighbours have to be told before digging starts?
Under a complying development certificate for a new building or an addition, yes: on the Central Coast the certificate holder must give neighbours within 20 metres written notice at least 2 days before work starts. The longer 7-day notice applies only in the council areas the Regulation lists, and Central Coast isn't one of them.
Permits and approvals
Does excavation need Council approval?
It depends on the job, because the Central Coast's local plan has no earthworks clause of its own. Exempt earthworks, which need no approval, stop at 600 millimetres of cut or fill, at least a metre from every boundary; deeper work goes with a complying development certificate or a development application, and Council's acid sulfate soils map can require consent at shallower depths on some land.

Service area
Which suburbs do you cover?
Anywhere in Central Coast Council's area. Ten suburbs have a page, from Umina Beach and Woy Woy in the south to Blue Haven, Lake Munmorah and Gwandalan in the north; Gosford, Terrigal and the others are covered without one.
Do you do the excavation yourselves?
No. This site is run by a marketing company that passes each enquiry to an independent local provider; the provider quotes and does the work. We own no machinery and hold no building licence ourselves.
Thanks — we have your enquiry. Someone will be in touch shortly. Prefer to talk now? Call (02) 4326 8289.
